Baseball season is coming to a close and we have really enjoyed it! Jonas has come a long way since the beginning of the season and we are proud of him.

Mother's Day and a Birthday!

Okay, this is a bit late. My Dads birthday has always fallen on Mother's Day or very near it. He has been having some serious health problems, and has been on my mind much lately.
There are so many sweet memories that come back when I think about our relationship. A little crazy, but one of my favorite things is flat Sprite. My dad would come home from work when I was little and get a nice big glass of Sprite filled with ice. It would get left sitting on a coffee table and I would find it after it had been sitting awhile and the ice had melted. I would gulp the rest of it down. Funny!
One of my first dates was blind. It was set up by a friend of mine and the guy was actually a man of the age 26. I was 16! My dad informed me that he could come over and watch a movie at our house. Soon after he arrived to watch (American Dreamer, yikes, can you believe I made him watch that) the movie, my dad showed up wearing his Sheriff's Department uniform and sat right down on the couch and watched the movie with us. I feel bad that they both had to sit through that. Although, I think Dad enjoyed his role!

Spring Day!

A Beautiful Thorn In My Side!

You call it Wisteria! And I have two!!

It covers the trellis over our deck out back.

It has the most beautiful purple flowers and they give the most wonderful aroma!

Here's the thorn: There always seems to be a hail storm the first week of May that knocks them all down, by mid May the vines have grown half-way up the back side of our house and all over our dish, they also get so strong that they tear apart the railing on our deck. The trouble is, we just can't keep up with them. Josh suggested that we take them down last year and got an earful from me! Why can't either of us have been a professional arborist, sigh.......

These days we spend all of our time outside.

We can't stay out front for long, because the girls love to chase the quail out into the road. I must say how much I love seeing the quail come out in the Spring. Hopefully, not to long before we see the little trail of babies.

Es was wanting to use the scooter so bad, I guess she will have to have her own since big sis won't share!

April Book Review!

It is always very difficult for me to read books that invole oppression. I preferred this book to The Kite Runner. I hate the abuse of children even if it is fiction. This story of two women is beautiful. The culture is eye opening and heart wrenching. Mariam's sacrifice is a tear jerker! I love the sisterhood that is felt!

I like this author's writing style. There are a few curse words that you must overlook, but overall a very interesting story! I found out at the end of this book that it is a second in a series of two! There was no need for the first, but I might go back and read it now.

This is a movie that I will not see, obviously! The book was on the vulgar side. The use of vocabulary was far from the anything I have been used to. It is hard to hear such terms used when speaking of love.
I did enjoy reading about WWII from the British perpective, but feel that I could have gotten it somewhere else with a lot less vulgarity.
